There really isn't much a probation officer can do to change a person's system for getting what he wants, although we must try. What we can do is provide a structure that gives consequences, and hope it "inspires" the person to re-think that system. An old PO once taught me - "Warm firm limits in the context of a structured environment; freedom commensurate with ability." The rest is between him and God.
